Time to empower women in agriculture

The United Nations’ Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) met last month for the 57th time.

Here’s what Anette Engelund Friis, Manager of Climate Change Policy at the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, says about CSW57. ‘The main theme this year was the prevention and elimination of all forms of violence against women and girls.’ I recommend that blog post.

You might choose to follow Ms Friis’ lead to Farming First’s infographic about the Female Face of Farming. You might choose also to follow my ‘woman’ tag on this blog for more about how women understand and feed the world.

About argylesock

I wrote a PhD about veterinary parasitology so that's the starting point for this blog. But I'm now branching out into other areas of biology and into popular science writing. I'll write here about science that happens in landscapes, particularly farmland, and about science involving interspecific interactions. Datasets and statistics get my attention. Exactly where this blog will lead? That's a journey that I'm on and I hope you'll come with me.
