About argylesock

I wrote a PhD about veterinary parasitology so that's the starting point for this blog. But I'm now branching out into other areas of biology and into popular science writing. I'll write here about science that happens in landscapes, particularly farmland, and about science involving interspecific interactions. Datasets and statistics get my attention. Exactly where this blog will lead? That's a journey that I'm on and I hope you'll come with me.

  1. Done – thanks for bringing it to our attention

You’re welcome. I find the photo quite disturbing. I’m a meat eater but that image is so telling – cruelty, overfishing – puts you right off your food doesn’t it?

      • You’re so right… Gave up meat years ago, and just eat a little organic chicken. gave up fish when I saw how cruel fishing actually is… and then ate shell food. Now I read that the shell food we get here mostly comes from the Mekong delta and Chinese polluted waters with high levels of contamination… oh dear…

Signed it! I hope it is a practice/dish that dies a quick death and allows shark populations to stabilise once more.

It’s such a pointless dish anyway. I’ve never eaten it but apparently, it’s just a thin fish soup. There are other ways to make thin fish soup that don’t involve cruelty or overfishing.
