Agribusiness and human rights

Gisele Henriques at CIDSE gives us a ‘Briefing for Social Movements’ about agribusiness and human rights.

Dr Henriques says, ‘The importance of [agriculture] to hunger reduction and poverty alleviation should not be underestimated. The kind of investment needed, however, is an issue which is currently at the heart of many international policy debates on food security and nutrition.’ She urges us to support the United Nations’ Committee on Global Food Security because ‘[f]ood security and nutrition is everyone’s business.’

I’m grateful to my fellow blogger Janina at Food (Policy) for Thought for drawing attention to this.

About argylesock

I wrote a PhD about veterinary parasitology so that's the starting point for this blog. But I'm now branching out into other areas of biology and into popular science writing. I'll write here about science that happens in landscapes, particularly farmland, and about science involving interspecific interactions. Datasets and statistics get my attention. Exactly where this blog will lead? That's a journey that I'm on and I hope you'll come with me.
