What’s wrong with my blog?

I generally avoid being self-referential on my WordPress blog but some help would be very welcome now. Since yesterday, there’s been an icon next to my blog’s title which I didn’t put there. It looks like a picture of Planet Earth. The ‘Edit’ function no l0nger allows me to add or remove clickable links. It no longer allows me to add or remove tags, and it no longer shows me a list of the tags I’ve previously used. What’s going on?

[Edit] Now it’s letting me add a tag but only if I can remember the first few letters of that tag.

About argylesock

I wrote a PhD about veterinary parasitology so that's the starting point for this blog. But I'm now branching out into other areas of biology and into popular science writing. I'll write here about science that happens in landscapes, particularly farmland, and about science involving interspecific interactions. Datasets and statistics get my attention. Exactly where this blog will lead? That's a journey that I'm on and I hope you'll come with me.

  1. Those engineers of happiness(?) at wordpress seem to be making lots of changes at the moment. I think the globe you mentioned is only visible to you when you’re logged in (also visible to other wordpress users if they’re logged in, but for us it just provides a new link to “report content” and also the name of your theme whereas for you it links to your dashboard-y stuff). I don’t know what happened with your tags – i think they’ll come back, my interface has been all over the place for the past couple of weeks. It’s an exercise in patience: there’s nothing wrong with your blog:-)

Hopefully they’ll also repair the reader so it actually points people to blogs rather than the annoying pop-up they decided to use.

  2. i had the same problem wiht tags – but it seems to have sorted itself out
