A scientist against GM crops

Here’s a radio interview with Thierry Vrain. Dr Vrain used to make genetically modified (GM, genetically engineered) crops with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. But now he says that he’s learned not to trust GM crops.

Dr Vrain is particularly concerned about the world’s most popular weedkiller, Roundup (glyphosate). That weedkiller, and the GM crops designed to grow with it (Roundup Ready crops), are made by the chemical and biotech giant Monsanto. There’s evidence that Roundup isn’t so benign for people’s health as Monsanto wants us to believe.

I’m grateful to Carol Grieve’ at Food Integrity Now for giving us chance to hear Dr Vrain.

About argylesock

I wrote a PhD about veterinary parasitology so that's the starting point for this blog. But I'm now branching out into other areas of biology and into popular science writing. I'll write here about science that happens in landscapes, particularly farmland, and about science involving interspecific interactions. Datasets and statistics get my attention. Exactly where this blog will lead? That's a journey that I'm on and I hope you'll come with me.
